With over a decade of experience in both football and business, Stephen has worked in various roles within these industries. He has successfully managed the disciplinary control unit department and conducted weekly hearings for the FAI, dealing with cases related to betting and anti-doping. Additionally, he has gained immense knowledge in contract negotiations, recruitment, and talent scouting through his role as the “Head of Player Management” at PFA Ireland.
As a FIFA Licenced Agent, registered FAI Intermediary, FAI coach, and FAI referee, Stephen possesses the necessary qualifications for his roles. Furthermore, he has a strong football background having played schoolboy football with Portmarnock FC and is an avid supporter of Leeds United.
Having completed his apprenticeship with HJ Ward LLP Solicitors, Stuart became a qualified solicitor in 1995. His achievements in the legal profession include being voted Solicitor of the Year at the Irish Law Awards in 2018, serving as President of the Law Society in 2016/17, and, before that, serving as President of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association in 2010/11.
Specializing in sports law, Stuart received the Irish Law Sports Lawyer of the Year award in 2021 and has been a finalist for the award for 2022. Additionally, he is registered as a lawyer with the English Football Association and has worked closely with the PFA Ireland, handling several high-profile cases on behalf of its members.
